The Master System proved to be a massive failure in America due to the popularity of Nintendo though it did do well when released in Europe. When Tonka bought the US SMS rights they failed to market the popular games instead releasing failures like Cloud Master. In 1989 Sega USA bought back the rights and released some popular games, but it was just too late...The Sega Master System was finally discontinued in 1995.
