| MSX Released 1983 and discontinued 1995, the MSX didn't prove popular at all in America, though did see some success in several European countries, Japan and South Korea. There have been many suggested possibilities for what MSX actually stands for, MicroSoft eXtended (Being one) in reference to the built-in MSX-BASIC programming language. But the truth (according to Kazuhiko Nishi, the founder of the MSX computer) states that Machines with Software eXchangeability is it's true definition. There have been 4 MSX computers in production, MSX 1 (1983), MSX 2 (1986), MSX 2+ (1988) and MSX turbo R (1990). Before it's demise, 5 million MSX computers had been sold worldwide. | ![]() |
